Endometriosis is a chronic gynecological disease characterized by the presence of tissue similar to the endometrium (the lining of the uterus) outside the uterus.

This tissue reacts to the hormonal variations of the menstrual cycle. It can cause local inflammation, pelvic pain, and very painful periods.

Endometriosis can affect different areas: ovaries, uterine ligaments, intestines, or bladder. Each case is different, with symptoms varying in severity from person to person.

A medical diagnosis is necessary in case of suspicion.

Painful periods, also called dysmenorrhea, can cause:
